In 2018 the Cryptid known as the Beaveman had an idea. Prove to the world that he did exist. He teamed up with a friend from his past and began his first podcast called Beaveman and the Doc. Due to conflicting personalities and villagers with torches, the Beaveman sought an alternate way to broaden the scope of the podcast and promote a method of rotating cast members. His idea, the Slaptail Squad, was born. The podcast was rebranded in 2019 and included a rotating cast of members. Today, the podcast features the comedy podcast stylings of the Beaveman, Swan, JD Hutchins, and the Ricker. A host of other squad members has graced the podcast digital world with their presence and comedic talents. The cast is ever expanding.
In 2023, the Slaptail Nation started producing stand-up comedy in Kalamazoo, MI. Their first show was produced on June 2 as a kick-off to Pride month. The tradition has continued and each June, the Slaptail Nation produces a Slap Your Tail Comedy show to celebrate pride.
The podcast has continued to grow and reach a larger audience and, although small, it has been ranked internationally and on the US charts in the top 300 for improv podcasts on multiple occasions.
The frontman for Slaptail Nation, the Beaveman started stand-up comedy in 2013 and has embraced his gallows humor style performing on primarily open mics throughout Michigan and hosting not only the Slap Your Tail Comedy productions but the Slap Your Tail Comedy open mic night.
